The Hidden Smile of God
Light shining out of Darkness
(Book III, Hymn 15, page 571)
by William Cowper
(taken from ReformationINK)
- God moves in a mysterious way,
- His wonders to perform;
- He plants his footsteps in the sea,
- And rides upon the storm.
- Deep in unfathomable mines
- Of never-failing skill,
- He treasures up his bright designs,
- And works his sov'reign will.
- Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take,
- The clouds ye so much dread
- Are big with mercy, and shall break
- In blessings on your head.
- Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
- But trust him for his grace;
- Behind a frowning providence
- He hides a smiling face.
- His purposes will ripen fasts,
- Unfolding ev'ry hour;
- The bud may have a bitter taste,
- But sweet will be the flow'r.
- Blind unbelief is sure to err,
- And scan his work in vain;
- God is his own interpreter,
- And he will make it plain

Power of Percentages
"If Christians had given a 10 percent tithe to their churches in 2004, instead of the actual 2.56 percent, there would have been an extra $164 billion. And of churches spend $70 to $80 billion of that on missions and humanitarian works, the basic needs of every person on the globe would be provided."

"Personal wealth is distributed so unevenly across the world that the riches two percent of adults won more than 50 percent of the world's assets. The poorest half of the world hold only 1 percent of the wealth."
