for anyone who might read this, I just installed a free photo editing and graphic design program called "the gimp". I am experimenting and would love any constructive comments on what comes out of this process. thanks!

Can I post an obligatory welcome to 2001? Gimp is awesome, but misses some of the best functionality of Photoshop (like the magnetic lasso). It's a pretty good tool though, start reading up on Script-Fu stuff. Pretty neato.
